Budapest, 8 July 2026 – MP Márk Radnai and Mayor Ádám Hernádi announced that in 2027 the EFOTT festival will move to Esztergom. The 50th, jubilee edition opened on Wednesday, still at Lake Velence, and until 12 July welcomes visitors with stars such as Gábor Presser, András Lovasi, the Csík Band, Azahriah, Desh, beton.hofi, Dzsúdló and Halott Pénz.

Fifty years on one stage

The 50-year-old EFOTT opened with an unprecedented, 3.5-hour continuous birthday show spanning four musical eras of the past five decades, featuring Gábor Presser, András Lovasi, Tibi Kiss, Valmar, Márk Járai, T. Danny, KKevin, Groovehouse, György Korda and Klári Balázs, as well as Zoltán Bereczki. Folk music has been provided for 40 years by the Csík Band. The show will also feature in the documentary the festival is presenting about its history.

Four hosts, a growing partner circle

In its record year the festival also set a new high in the number of hosts: four universities – Széchenyi István University, ELTE, the University of Pannonia and the Budapest University of Economics – joined as co-organisers. The partner circle also grew stronger: Auchan remains the festival’s official store until 2028, Erste is present with its Erste x Körvonal Jövőkép cards, and from 2027 MOL will also become a key partner.

A change at the helm

At the press conference it was announced that Dr. Gábor Lasztovicza is fulfilling the festival director’s duties for the last time this year; next year Márk Zelenák will take over. He has been an active organiser of the event for several years and served as the organisation’s head of sales before his appointment.

New venue: Esztergom

“In 2027 EFOTT’s new home will be Esztergom,” announced Márk Radnai. Ádám Hernádi, Mayor of Esztergom, said the city council adopted by an overwhelming majority a 10-year strategic cooperation between the city and EFOTT. For the city this is an outstanding economic and tourism opportunity: 130,000 people live in its agglomeration and 6,000 students study there.
