Kápolnásnyék, 8 July 2026 – The National Conference of Student Unions (HÖOK) and the National Association of Doctoral Students (DOSz) held the Educatio+ Conference for the sixth time this year at the Halász Gedeon Event Centre in Kápolnásnyék, under the motto “Student experience from a different perspective. Experiences and new perspectives in higher education.” At the event, HÖOK also presented its “Teacher of the Year” awards.

Student experience at the centre

The Educatio+ Conference is traditionally held on the first day of the EFOTT festival, also organised by HÖOK, as an accompanying event. The aim of the conference is for the actors of higher education, decision-makers, institutional experts and student representatives to jointly seek answers on how higher education can be, at the same time, a high-quality knowledge centre, a supportive community and an inspiring environment for development. Alongside the traditional participants, the programme also drew on the experience of sport, culture, media, mental health and community organising.

Opening: cooperation and openness

At the opening, Enikő Kubinyi, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, emphasised the importance of cooperation: “I believe that only through joint thinking can we create an environment in which students envisage their future in Hungary in the long term.” Anna Taraczközi, DOSz board member for international affairs, spoke about the significance of international openness, while Marcell Eszterhai, President of HÖOK, stressed: “The most important value we can all believe in is the student community, whose development is our shared task.”

The Teacher of the Year winners

In the human role model category, Barabás Zoltán (Budapest University of Technology and Economics), Németh Nikolett (Hungarian Dance University) and Barabásné dr. Kárpáti Dóra (University of Nyíregyháza) were recognised. In the professional role model category, Dr. Kósa Balázs (University of Sopron), Ladányi Éva (Eötvös József College) and Lukács Antal (Széchenyi István University) were named Teacher of the Year, while in the teacher–educator category the work of Borszéki Szabolcsné Gábris Virág (Eötvös József College), Dr. Sólyom Márk (Kodolányi János University) and Dr. Szemerszky Renáta (Károli Gáspár Reformed University) was honoured. The audience award went to Barabásné dr. Kárpáti Dóra.

Why the award matters

HÖOK founded the Teacher of the Year Award to underline that students need a mentor who excels equally in nurturing talent, in attention paid to students, and in teaching and academic work.
